Red Cliffs Recreation Area

It's February and we are hiking! Saturday we took a little hike on Red Reef Trail. It was really cool with the pools at the end. I bet it gets really crowded in the summer because you can swim in them.

Got a little cut off

Every Little Date

I must be that kind of person that celebrates every little date because I am always looking back and thinking "oh this time last year we were..." but I thought I would post a little something about the day we met. I have it written down only in my journal and I wanted to have the whole story here.

4 years ago we met at stake FHE.  I did not want to go. I was tired and was still missing my friends from SVU. My roommate Jennifer convinced me to change out of my sweats and go with her. It was going to be a dance where they rotate partners and teach us to dance. But I went not caring what I looked like or if I impressed anyone.  I threw on my neon Daytona Beach t-shirt and jeans.

Jamir's account is that a week before he had put in his journal that he had everything he wanted: school, family, job, but he was missing a girl. His bishop had even announced something about the members needing to date more and Jamir being the obedient RM that he was, took it seriously.

At the dance I met Jamir. I think it was the third rotation and then we got talking and we skipped the next rotation and the next one. He thought I was a little over confident with my neon shirt and Mexican jokes and I thought he was exotic and funny with his accent. Then the announcer told us we needed to take a seat for the next part which was to be ladies choice and we were doing a dance competition. I was talking to Jamir and kind of missed what she said so when she told us to pick partners it was only me and Jamir left. So we were partners again. The room was divided into 4 groups and they would spin a bottle in between songs. If you were in the group that got picked, you had to sit down. Eventually, there were only a couple people left and I thought maybe we had a chance at winning. Finally, it was only two other couples (I think even Choco was in the other group) against us and we won!

They brought us to the front and had us introduce ourselves (see picture below).  We were to claim our prizes (just candy bars) after. As we walked back Jamir said to me, "I told myself that if we won, I would ask you out." I thought he was another one of those guys who asked out everyone, so I didn't take it seriously. I went back to my group and danced with a guy in my ward, but we claimed out treats together and Jamir asked what I liked to do. We ended up having three dates that weekend and you know the rest!

I am so happy to have this picture!

We are with a new crowd these days..

But we are the only ones who have non dread lock hair, shave, and climb with our shirts on ;) I guess we need to practice being more hippie to fit in.

We went to climb at the black rocks. It has a TON of routes, I don't know why anyone would go to an indoor gym. The guys next to us were entertaining as they had their beer and weren't afraid to loudly yell profanities as they slipped.

busy day

And last weekend we visited Tonaquint park. It had two HUGE swans that will come right up to you. Unfortunately, they pick on the little guy by Jamir. He was friendly too, but looked like he was going to swan heaven soon.

Rappelling Dixie

We visited our soon to be favorite park again. This time we explored more and did some rappelling. Sorry for all the red rock pictures...but that is what St George is made of!

my new job

I started my new job today. I got to make this! Its for a floral arranging place. There are a lot of funerals in St George (old people) so I will be making more of them. I'm really excited to be able to be creative at work! And I get to pretend I have pet bird :) It squawks all the time.

Pioneer Park

In our spare time we went to Pioneer Park. It was really cool. It has tons of rock formations and caves to climb on and under. We will definitely be visiting it again!

To Jamir's right is the lookout point to see all of St George

You can repel off this cliff. We will be doing that soon

Welcome sun! But we will be coming back at night to see the the city.

Sewing Machine

Not to copy Jenna's posts, but I redid my sewing machine cabinet! I have been meaning to do it for a while and with the cold weather we've been inside for too long so now I actually wanted to do it.

Ugly. I added the new knobs. The old ones were ugly.

After getting all the old paint off, it was turned into a pretty red wood. You can see the shape of the old ugly knobs.

After!

And Provo has a brand new rec center! Its amazing! It has racquetball courts, bb courts, an indoor track and tons of workout equipment, a rock wall and pools with slides, snake river and slides! We have gone twice now since its actually nice to be inside.

Sacramento

We have been doing a lot of driving lately. We got to go to Sacramento for an interview for Jamir (vacation for me) and see the city a little bit. It is beautiful (and warm) there. I love all the trees and plants covering the streets. We were able to visit the temple, and spend some time down town at the parks, old town, and the capitol.

Hemos estado manenjado mucho ultimamente.

The only downside is driving in downtown...next time we will take the bus.

The beautiful capitol. The tree to my left is a sweet orange and it smelled soo good.

I was really excited about the poppys. I can't wait to grow a garden!

I loved how tall the pines were. Reminded me of Fl, although I think they are taller here!
By the way, the interview went well, so fingers crossed!

Making the Best of Winter

For our Christmas present, Uncle Phil took us ice fishing. It was great for Jamir to improve his skills for scouting. I caught two fish and Jamir caught one (but his was the biggest :) Phil gave us a picture frame for our big fish picture because now we are master fishermen and have a pic of our fish!

Learning to drill the hole.

Worming the hook.

They weren't biting at first...so waiting was the hardest part.

The first fish caught by Phil.

I won't touch the fish. I can't handle it :)

We had some fun riding the 4 wheeler.

Back in Provo. We took these on the first day of snow...I was excited, now not so much.

We went with the Lopez family snow tubing in Midway.

I've never been a fan of snow, but might as well have fun with it while it lasts right?
