Yucatan Day 1; Excaret

We were finally able to do the trip we have talked about since we got married; a trip to Cancun and the surrounding areas. And....a BABYMOON! Cancun was actually only a small part of it. Most of the time was spent in Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or Chichen Itza. It was a rough road getting there, but once we did, it was so beautiful and fun!

The first day was Xcaret. It's basically an eco park with Mexican culture tied in. It was so well maintained with 3 underground rivers, butterfly pavilion, aviary, buffet food, and a spectacular show about Mexican history at the end. The pictures just don't do justice do how wonderful it is.

First meeting with the parrots. They were all over.
Excited to get to the underground rivers.
Cool tunnels all over that led to attractions.
About to start the first one!

I bought a waterproof case for the camera to take underwater shots. Excuse the ring around the outside.

Exhausted, resting on the hammock.

Iguanas all over too.
With the butterflies.
Hard to see them in the pics, but they were everywhere!

The aviary was amazing! It had waterfalls and this suspension bridge. So cool.
More parrots
Playing at the beach area. The water was so warm and clear.

Meeting baby turtles

This ride takes you up spinning to see the whole park and around it.
We look tired right??? And I love the photobomber in the background.---the river ride.

People get married in this chapel.

They made a Mexican cemetery. Each grave had a quirky theme to it.

Jamir insisted that we get chaco sandals for all the walking and swimming. Glad we did, but look how swollen our feet are!
Watiting for one of the shows to start.
Ceremony of corn, and other agricultural things.
Walk back through cemetery.
Made a friend.
Waiting for the spectacular to start.
Everybody got candles before the show. It made for a cool effect.
Dance from Veracruz

The finale.
