Thanksgiving Weekend

Dad, Mom, and Grandma made the 11 hour drive to Oregon for Thanksgiving. We were able to eat a good dinner with the folding table they brought. Choco also drove down for dinner. We were able to show them around Coos Bay including the shore acres holiday lights, Jamir's office and the beaches. And we got our Christmas tree on Friday. It was pouring! But it was fun nonetheless. Thanks for making the drive!

Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. Also started raining so we were soaked!

Later we played with ward members in the Turkey Bowl. It was sooo muddy, but fun.

Thanksgiving dinner

Soaked again! Our beautiful tree.

Shore Acres Lights. There were so many! It was beautiful. The blurry spots are rain drops on the lens.

Grandma and Jamir.

One of the whale displays. My makeshift poncho with a plastic bag.

I loved how it was not only lights, but different animal shapes.

The cute house with cider and cookies.

Look at his sweatshirt. It rained so much, but made it memorable.

Venturing out onto cold Bastendorff Beach

Freezing parents. Not like Florida beaches huh Dad?

Sea Lions

Dad trying to feed the ducks with two cheerios he found in the car. They were more interested in the big bad of popcorn a lady brought.

This is mostly me playing with my new camera. But also to represent us getting out all the Christmas stuff! yay!

Just some pics from the weekend

We were able to meet Choco and Maren to watch "Meet the Mormons" in Florence (about an hr away) on Saturday. I really enjoyed it. I loved the contrasting stories. The one I loved most was about a single mother who joined the church after having a hard past of drugs and getting pregnant as a teen. I love how the church can change people's lives. I don't care if you believe the doctrine, but anyone can see that the church makes your life better.

There are about two attractions in Florence (I think it is a retired town) and we decided to check one of them out. It is the Darlingtonia Natural Site. They are bug eating plants similar to venus fly traps. It was nice to walk around even though it is getting chilly here.

The light was pretty so we decided to stop and take a pic of our bridge before going home.

Elk Creek Falls/Big Tree Trail

We had an adventurous weekend exploring more areas around us. On Friday we decided to have a fire and roast hot dogs out at the North Spit. It was dark, but Jamir had fun off roading along the shore. And, being the boy scout that he was, was able to start a fire with damp wood. We even found a random machete in a tree. We had little mice friends join us (although I was not happy about them trying to eat our food.) It was beautiful with the full moon and warm fire.

Then on Saturday the weather was awesome and didn't rain! We did some hikes around a small town, Powers. The falls and trail were beautiful with giant trees and yellow leaves. We supported a local diner later and had hamburgers.

(asi escribe Amy hamburgesas)

The drive was beautiful along a river

The Leaves are Changing! (in Eugene)

We were able to have some exploring in Eugene when we dropped Mama Lopez off at the airport on Friday. Since it was Halloween, Jamir decided last minute to be a cowboy. We hadn't planned on anything, so my "cowgirl" costume is pretty lame :) (see pic) But it was fun to be out of Coos Bay for a little to explore and see the colorful leaves!

As always, I am excited for the holidays! It feels weird that Coos Bay weather hasn't changed that much. It is getting cooler, but not so much that I notice. Here are some pictures of pretty fall leaves (in Eugene) because everyone likes to look at fall leaves!

Still pretty green, but I loved the big yellow leaves on the ground
