Prospect State Park/Rattlesnake and Roses

We have been here over a month and still have hardly seen the beautiful areas around us. We finally had a somewhat free weekend and got to hike to the waterfalls in Prospect State Park. The weather was so nice; not too warm, but warm enough to play in the water. There are wildflowers, rivers, pines, and boulders all over this area. There are more attractions farther north that we have on our bucket list too!

A few weeks ago we were able to do a little rock climbing after work at rattlesnake. It turned out to be quite scenic with a view at the top. It had so many routes! A must for avid rock climbers.

Cave like rocks make cool climbs. Too hard for us :)
Hard to show how tall it really is

On Friday we stopped at this Medford rose garden to eat pupusas. There is a sister in our branch who makes and sells them on Fridays. We are becoming regulars for our date nights.

En Viernes tenemos pupusas en un jardin de rosas a comer pupusas. Hay una hermana en nuestra rama quien hices y sells thme en viernes. Somos regulares.
It smelled so fresh!

Now called Prospect State Park. This is the map of where we hiked
Mill Creek Falls
They are always better in person than in pictures
Barr Creek Falls
Cool view

The next few are from the Avenue of the Boulders. It reminded me of the trolls in Frozen. Huge boulders everywhere. It made from really nice swimming pools and small waterfalls. We ate our lunch there.

Sad Jamir's eyes are closed. I thought he looked like a frog hanging out on the rock :)
Jamir is disgruntled here. The tuna sandwhiches got soggy. Next time I will just bring bread and tuna separately.
I thought it would be cool to try and have a splashing water pic...kinda didn't work.
Jamir says we look like baboons

Scary broken staircase

Last part of hike-Pearsony Falls

An animal was making noises in the forest. I captured this wild beast with my camera.
Pleased with himself for getting my attention. Big goof.

  •  driving/manejar
  • a wedding/una boda
  • fresh cut flowers from Grandma's yard/flores recien cortadas del jardin de papa
  • and did I mention the rain and driving?/mecionamos la lluvia y manejar

We drove close to 30 hours over the three day weekend. It was worth it though for Josue and Stephanie's wedding! We were able to see Mom and Dad in Elko before they left for England to pick up Cam (I am so excited to see him soon!). Dad gave us an accordion concert including "La Cucaracha" for Jamir. Then we headed to Utah the next day to meet with friends, eat our favorite gyros and Cafe Rio, visit BYU, and shop a little before having a family dinner.

Sharon and Dave (Sam's parents) let us stay the night and fed us a great breakfast before we headed back to Bountiful for the wedding. It was a very nice ceremony half in Spanish and half in English. Then a reception in Pocatello, followed by a drive to Elko to spend Memorial Day with Grandma.

We stopped halfway to write on our car. That road is so long and deserted.

I had made this banner and wanted a pic before we decorated their car with it. The salt flats were a great place to stop.
Still not finished-Provo Temple.

The room we met for the first time. It has carpet now and no plants! Weird.

Bountiful Temple

I took my camera for practice.

My favorite from the wedding pics. Abuelita with a slight smile.

Had Kenia take a few during downtime.

Jamir had too much fun
We visited the remodeled Ogden Temple on the way to Pocatello

Sending off with bubbles. Super cute.
I was glad we got to spend some time with Grandma visiting Grandpa, Great Grandma, and Gerry's graves. Grandma said that Grandpa always liked to have fresh flowers in his yard. In honor of this, every year we cut fresh flowers to put on his grave.

The arrangements.

We had a lot of rain. It made the drive more interesting as we watched lightening storms.
