Benji turns one!

And he is one. Ben has grown so much. It's amazing how fast he changed from a baby to a toddler(?). He is walking around now. He started taking steps around Christmas, but is a full on walker now. He follows me around the house like a ghost. He is still as social as ever. His ward family loves him and all of the kids play with him. He is sort of rough so that is good when he plays with older kids (he doesn't cry when he falls). He likes to make a lot of sounds and responds when I ask him questions sometimes. He loves to explore outside and see dogs and other new exciting things like rocks and bark. He has gotten two more teeth on his bottom and is eating pretty much anything (although he likes chocolate things a lot). His hair has grown back and has a nice curl to it. He is still the happy, energetic Benji as always.

For his birthday I took him to the covered bridge for some pictures and later we walked to the park nearby. He loved seeing all the people out (it was finally a sunny relatively warm day). He walked back and forth across the bridge and looked over the side at the river underneath. He loves to climb and pulled himself up on the rails. He wanted to eat the bark at the park more than anything, so after a few minutes we headed back home. Later we had spaghetti and cake with Jamir. I made a lemon cake with lime flavored icing (Ben loves to suck on limes if he can get to one). Ben thought it was another cake smash so he squished and threw his cake on the floor. I'm okay with that since it's not great for him anyway.

I will miss his tarzan/spiderman crawl

screaming from excitement

watching someone walk by

 Some from my phone.

pointing at things

excited to look around.

opening Grandma's card

spaghetti dinner. He put that on his head

He was mesmerized by the candles

so much that he had to be held back from trying to grab them

he got a bit of the cake though

candles all blown out by dad.

How to eat a cake

you need a cake

sample the cookies first

if they taste good, go for the other one

scratch out a little of the side

shove as much as possible in your mouth

make sure to rip off some more

and see if it tastes like the rest of the cake

now it's time to pull some on the floor

but don't be distracted from the people taking your picture

offer some to them, they probably will want some

throw what is left in your hands in the air

I guess you can share some with Papa

now it's time to really throw

make sure there are NO whole pieces left

squish it down by stepping in it

wipe some on the person's camera

examine the frosting on your feet

there is still some on the plate....

let's try this idea...

see if you can remove the cake by tipping it off

that didn't work, better throw some more

turn it up side down

finally, lick the remains off

good job! you successfully ate(destroyed) a cake!

now to rinse off

drink lots of water

go into a sugar coma

drinking the soapy water results in a beard

wash the frosting off that eye

congrats! You survived! and are nice and clean
