Seattle

This is a long one; brace yourself.

I met Kylie during the first semester I went to SVU. We did cross country together. We weren't roommates, but I often found myself camped out in her room talking about orchestra, running, dating, the church, the bad food at SVU, and pretty much everything. I think we even had a few sleep overs. We would write funny notes to each other and leave them around campus. After a semester we both left SVU. I went to BYU and she went back home to California. We saw each other a little in Provo after I got married but it was short lived since she then went to BYU Hawaii. After that, I didn't see her for probably 4 or 5 years. We just stayed friends through email. And then she found the right guy and said she was getting married in Seattle. Seattle! That's only 7 hours! So we made the drive and I got to see her sealed in the temple and be a bridesmaid. It was a really fun trip. And surreal to see her again.

Jamir wanted to see Seattle too so we made a big trip out of it. Jamir took of work Friday and we drove early in the morning. Luckily, it was one of the nicest days Seattle had. It was sunny and warm. We first tried some hamburger place that's supposed to be good (it wasn't), and then walked around the Seattle Center. Ben played in the fountain and the "Artists at Play" park. We wanted to go to dinner at Kylie's mom's house, but traffic was horrible! And her mom lives on Bainbridge Island, so we would have to take a ferry to get there. So we decided it was best to just get dinner somewhere else. Checked in the motel and ventured for some good pizza and found a lovely park. Ben especially liked all the dogs. Then we went back to the waterfront and saw the sunset while riding the ferris wheel. It was beautiful.

The next day, after a quick stop at Kerry Park to see the view, we headed back to the Seattle Center and played. Ben climbed at the park, and then we toured the pop culture museum. Then we did a quick stop at Pike's Market. It's a giant farmers market. It was packed! We had some clam chowder and fish and chips. But I was so sad we didn't get to see the gum wall. I totally forgot in all the busyness. I also didn't want to be late to the sealing since I knew traffic could be a problem. We headed to the temple, I saw the beautiful sealing, it rained like crazy when we came out (why bother curling my hair?), and then we headed to the reception on a house on the water. I so happy Kylie found her guy. It was a cute reception. Ben danced with a different family and loved it. Then we swam at the motel before collapsing in bed.

Dicks hamburger. I think it is supposed to have the iconic ness that Krystal burgers have...and there were tons of "choralior" type high school groups around.

having fun in the fountain

tried to get a jumping pic..oh well
right next to space needle

Artists at play park. It was very creative

Ben loved climbing that thing. So did Jamir

good pizza. And the park was beautiful with blossoms and a clean playground. I wish we could have stayed at everything longer

the drive back into the city. It was a perfect time to see it

back at Artists at Play park. with less people

pop culture museum. It had a lot of Star Trek stuff. It was fun to see costumes they actually used. And they always look smaller in real life.

guitar statue...with a cello in there

pretty flowers everywhere. Seattle takes care of it's streets

passed out, but we had to see Pikes Market

If you watch "Sleepless in Seattle" again, you will see this sign

bustling with life

beautiful Kylie! and the rain!

Ben is the most social kid. He has no problems finding other friends to play with

the reception on the water

we stopped for church with Choco and Maren who live close to Portland on the way home. Poor Ben got the jalapeno salt from the chips in his eyes...
Manolo missed Benji while we were gone
